  Son of William Nettles and Dorcas Marpole. He married Margaret [some believe her maiden name was Marley] ca 1800. Enlisted in the 1st Rifle Regiment on Jul 16, 1813 for the War of 1812. Died Sept 6, 1814 at Buffalo, New York, according to the U.S. Army, Register of Enlistments, 1798-1914. After Solomon died, Margaret married Amos Jefferson Justice, Sr., and they moved to Lawrence County, Arkansas. Their children were: Mary "Polly" Nettles, married William G Stice, died in Kansas Shadrach Nettles, marreid Elizabeth Graham and died in Ripley Co., Missouri Sarah Nettles, married her step bro., John D. Justice, died in Randolph Co., AR Matilda Nettles Dorcas Margaret "Dorky", married Isaac Jobe. William Owen Nettles, married Dorcas M. Looney, died in Benton Co., AR.
