- John Pugh is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Pugh. John Pugh was married to Elinor Fruit who was the the daughter of James and Girzel Fruit.
John and Elinor had seven children.

In 1762 John Pugh along with his father Thomas Pugh and siblings Elizabeth Pugh-Fruit and Enoch Pugh attended and were witness to the Quaker marriage of his sister Mary Pugh to Herman Husband, who a few years later is considered the leader of the Regulators.
John Pugh was among those who signed Regulator Advertisement Number 9. In May of 1768 the Advertisement goes into circulation, John Pugh, his father Thomas Pugh and brothers Jesse, Enoch and James Pugh, his brothers-in-law William Walker and John Fruit all sign it. John, his brothers and father were all involved in the regulator rebellion.
John Pugh was even indicted, the claim was John Pugh was an outlaw for committing several acts of outrage on the 24th and 25th of Sept 1770. A petition for pardon was signed by residents of Randolph county and several people testified on John's behalf including his sister Peninah and his mother Elizabeth and John was eventually pardoned.
Circa 1805 John Pugh his wife and family later moved from North Carolina to Christian Kentucky where John Pugh died circa 1819 in Christian Kentucky, he is found in the census of 1810 but not in the 1820 census.
