Notes - Mary Ann Scaife was the eldest of 10 children born to Melissa Ann Lovejoy and Jamieson Scaife.
Mary Ann was married to Stephen W. Davis on 12 November 1851. Both her family and her husband's family lived on neighboring properties in the 1850s near Smiths Station, Russell Co. (now Lee Co.), Alabama. The couple had one child, a son Wilson. After Stephen's death in 1887, Mary Ann lived with her son's family.
Indian Springs Campground in central Georgia became a popular Methodist retreat during the 1820s. The Davis family spent a considerable amount of time there, at a house that Mary Ann's son either purchased or built during his lifetime. According to information in the Davis family bible, it was at Indian Springs where Mary Ann died at the age of 75.
