Notes - Carrie Bonebrake Simpson was a strong, caring, principled woman, a teacher, professor, writer, Mother & wife. She married Howard E Simpson (Sr) & they parented 4 children, three of whom were raised to adulthood: Jessie Frances Simpson (Holand), Robert Bonebrake Simpson, Carolyn Craddock (d. childhood) & Howard Edwin Simpson (Jr).
Carrie was enormously active in the community around her. During WWII, she served as the President of International P.E.O. & used her travels to support the war effort. For years, she maintained a column in the "Grand Forks Herald", wrote articles for submission to national magazines & taught English at UND. In her final years, she moved to California to be with her daughter Jessie's family, but was returned for burial with Howard & precious daughter, Carolyn.
